In 1993, USA Today Baseball Weekly used Diamond Mind Baseball to conduct a tournament designed to identify the best team in baseball history. Their panel of experts chose 32 teams and randomly placed them into a single-elimination tournament bracket. To make this a true test, each round consisted of a 154-game season between the two teams, with the winner advancing to the next round. Each week for 31 weeks, Baseball Weekly featured a full-page account of the results of one round in the tournament.
Our All-time Greatest Teams #1 disk includes all 32 of these teams. You can use this disk to run the tournament again with different brackets, play out a league season using these teams (we supply a schedule for that purpose), play exhibition games among these teams just for fun, or use these teams in a new league that you create with teams from different Diamond Mind Season Disks.
These are the 32 teams:
Pittsburgh (1902, 1909); Boston A (1912, 1946); New York N (1904, 1912, 1923);
Chicago N (1906); Philadelphia A (1911, 1931); Chicago A (1917);
New York A (1921, 1927, 1932, 1936, 1939, 1942, 1953, 1961, 1977); St. Louis N (1931, 1942);
Detroit (1934, 1968, 1984); Brooklyn (1953); Cleveland (1954); Baltimore (1969);
Los Angeles (1974); Cincinnati (1975); New York N (1986); Oakland (1988)
This season disk is a companion product for the Diamond Mind Baseball game. The game software provides you with all of the tools you need to play simulated games, make roster moves, produce dozens of statistical reports, generate league schedules, and more.
